Astrazione lirica

arte astratta come la vediamo, la conosciamo today affonda le sue radici nel XIX secolo, quando gli artisti iniziarono a privilegiare l'immaginazione e l'inconscio rispetto all'arte puramente rappresentativa. Durante questo periodo l'arte si allontana dall'idealizzazione dei suoi soggetti per enfatizzarne le qualità emotive e sensoriali. Gli artisti dell'inizio del XX secolo spinsero l'astrazione ancora più in là: invece di cercare di rappresentare la realtà tangibile in modo astratto, iniziarono a creare opere completamente staccate dal mondo visibile. Il primo "vero" artista astratto conosciuto fu la pittrice svedese Hilma af Klint, che produsse numerose opere monumentali ancorato allo spiritismo. Altri influenti artisti astratti del XX secolo includono Piet Mondrian, Wassily Kandinsky o anche Mark Rothko.

Oggi, artisti contemporanei di ogni tipo continuano l'eredità di questi creatori, utilizzando colore, linea e forma per produrre opere abstraites.
