Biography

Hirschfeld's work poses an experience, an aesthetic and cultural syncretism between European and African traditions and art. Hirschfeld bases the construction of his work on the memory of art history, the pursuit of beauty, in search of the cathartic capacity of classical icons. His speech is far from capturing the image snapshot, he becoming an image builder. Masters like Caravaggio, Zurbarán, Romero de Torres, are the referents who build their aesthetics through photography, thus establishing a direct dialogue between classical and contemporary art. In his recent works we can glimpse his interest in the portrait of African study and the reference to artists such as Seydou Keita and Malick Sidibé.
