Description
Three felines dominate the center of this composition. Their silhouettes stand out against a deep blue background. The artist uses acrylic to create marked chromatic contrasts.
The work recalls pointillism through the multiplication of small colored dots. This technique brings a grainy texture and a constant luminosity to the surface.
A blue cat, a ginger cat, and a purple cat occupy the space. They rest on pillars with warm and cool tones.
Vegetation surrounds the scene softly. Green leaves and white flowers punctuate the edges of the painting.
The whole evokes a serene and sunny atmosphere. The precision of the line emphasizes the contours of the animals.
This figurative painting, created in 2024, plays on the complementarity of primary and secondary colors. Each detail reinforces the sense of calm that emanates from this vegetal setting.
Presentation
Catherine Vella is a French painter of Italian origin, whose artistic career spans over thirty years.
After long practicing oil painting, she now works mainly with acrylics. Her universe is characterized by a generous use of color, light contrasts, and a constant search around light and emotion. Her work evolves between two complementary expressions: figurative painting with blocks of bright colors and a more meticulous approach inspired by pointillism. She explores various subjects—Mediterranean landscapes, human figures, animals, flowers, and scenes evocative of travel—while maintaining a personal visual identity. Painting occupies a central place in her life today. Her works have been presented at exhibitions and have joined private collections in France as well as abroad
My painting is above all guided by color, light, and emotion. I seek to create living and luminous works, capable of conveying a positive sensation while leaving room for sensitivity and imagination. I work mainly with acrylics, sometimes with flat blocks of color, sometimes with a technique close to pointillism which allows me to build light through a multitude of colored touches. Through landscapes, figures, animals, or scenes inspired by elsewhere
