Description
Acrylic expresses itself here with a marked chromatic generosity. This figurative composition places nature at the center of a structured visual play. Deep pink peonies bloom on a dark background, creating a sharp contrast that accentuates the luminosity of the petals.
The precision of the brushstroke emphasizes the delicacy of the flowers and the finesse of the tender green leaves. The spatial organization rests on an original geometric frame. Ornamental motifs frame the central scene, recalling the elegance of classical compositions.
The light seems to emanate from the heart of the corollas, where touches of yellow bring a solar glow. The work unfolds between saturated flat areas and a search for subtle relief. The whole exudes a serene and positive atmosphere.
This canvas created in 2026 testifies to rigorous technical mastery. Each shade of pink and magenta dialogues with the black background to magnify the vegetal subject. The artist's signature adds a discreet final touch in the bottom left of the composition.
Presentation
Catherine Vella is a French painter of Italian origin, whose artistic career spans over thirty years.
After long practicing oil painting, she now works mainly with acrylics. Her universe is characterized by a generous use of color, light contrasts, and a constant search around light and emotion. Her work evolves between two complementary expressions: figurative painting with blocks of bright colors and a more meticulous approach inspired by pointillism. She explores various subjects—Mediterranean landscapes, human figures, animals, flowers, and scenes evocative of travel—while maintaining a personal visual identity. Painting occupies a central place in her life today. Her works have been presented at exhibitions and have joined private collections in France as well as abroad
My painting is above all guided by color, light, and emotion. I seek to create living and luminous works, capable of conveying a positive sensation while leaving room for sensitivity and imagination. I work mainly with acrylics, sometimes with flat blocks of color, sometimes with a technique close to pointillism which allows me to build light through a multitude of colored touches. Through landscapes, figures, animals, or scenes inspired by elsewhere
