Description
Simple Pleasures — Original Contemporary Still Life Painting in Acrylic on Paper, 29.7 × 42 cm (11.7 × 16.5 in)
Simple Pleasures is an original contemporary still life painting in acrylic on paper, featuring vibrant colours and expressive brushwork, measuring 29.7 × 42 cm (11.7 × 16.5 in), ideal for collectors seeking colourful modern art, expressive figurative painting, and unique contemporary artwork for their home.
For Natalya Mougenot, painting is not about reproducing reality exactly as the eye sees it. It is about transforming what she observes into a personal expression of colour, energy, and feeling. Her artistic approach moves freely between expressive figuration and abstraction, allowing familiar subjects to become a starting point for a more intuitive exploration of the world.
In Simple Pleasures, bold colours, contrasting tones, and spontaneous brushstrokes create a lively visual rhythm. Vibrant pinks, warm coral shades, and deep blues are not merely descriptive; they establish an emotional atmosphere. The visible texture and confident contours preserve the immediacy of the artist's gestures, giving the painting a sense of movement, freedom, and authenticity.
Natalya's use of bright colours reflects her belief that art can bring light, emotion, and vitality into our everyday surroundings. Inspired by modern colourists such as Henri Matisse, she approaches colour as an independent expressive force. Colour does not have to imitate nature; it can intensify it, transform it, and reveal something that lies beyond appearances.
This is what makes Simple Pleasures more than a traditional still life. Beneath its familiar subject lies a reflection on the art of noticing: the quiet happiness found in ordinary moments, the richness of the present, and the beauty we sometimes overlook because it seems so familiar. The painting invites us to slow down and reconsider what brings us joy, reminding us that meaningful experiences do not always require grand gestures.
Art, in this sense, speaks a universal language. We may come from different cultures, speak different languages, and have different life experiences, yet we can recognise similar feelings of warmth, pleasure, nostalgia, or contentment in a work of art. Each viewer brings their own memories and associations, making the encounter with a painting deeply personal. What Simple Pleasures means to one person may be different from what it evokes in another, and this openness is part of its beauty.
This original artwork may particularly resonate with collectors who appreciate colourful contemporary art, expressive still life painting, modernist influences, and bold artistic compositions. It is suited to those who seek unique wall art that brings personality and warmth to an interior while offering more than a literal representation of its subject. Whether displayed in a living room, dining area, kitchen, or creative workspace, the painting celebrates the beauty of everyday life through a contemporary, expressive lens.
Created on heavyweight, professional, acid-free paper, Simple Pleasures offers an intimate yet vibrant expression of Natalya's artistic vision: a celebration of colour, spontaneity, and the quiet poetry of ordinary moments.
Framing and presentation
The painting is sold unframed. For an elegant, ready-to-use presentation, choose an A3 frame measuring 29.7 × 42 cm (11.7 × 16.5 in). A slim natural wood or white frame would complement the vivid palette without competing with the expressive brushwork. Alternatively, a slightly larger frame with an off-white mount would create a refined, gallery-inspired look.
Presentation
Natalya is a contemporary french artist living in Lyon.
She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.
She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.
She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.
In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.
As an artist and as a woman she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion, is the pillar for the inner adult.
Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.
She works rapidly and is constantly sensitive to the details.
Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
