This exceptional work, of bold modernism, is distinguished by its geometric composition and its dazzling colors. It is based on a controlled juxtaposition of rectangular and square shapes, creating a dynamic play of volumes and spaces. The chromatic palette used is particularly marked by the use of red, blue, yellow and black, each color being arranged in such a way as to attract and guide the eye on the canvas. The vibrant and vibrant red and yellow rectangles contrast with the more neutral black and white shapes, creating the perfect visual balance. The touches of blue add an extra dimension, bringing depth and movement to the work. The beige background subtly highlights the whole without ever eclipsing it, allowing the shapes and colors to come to life with intensity. This painting is an undeniable homage to geometric abstraction, a celebration of the purity of forms and the strength of colors. Each element is placed with millimeter precision, testifying to rigor and in-depth reflection on the part of the artist. The harmony and contrast between the elements underline the mastery of visual language and the artist's ability to transcend the simple frame of the canvas to offer an intense visual and emotional experience. By observing this work, the viewer is invited to immerse themselves in a universe where each color, each shape, and each line tells a story, where the abstract becomes the language of pure emotion. It is a work that does not just capture attention: it resonates deeply, leaving its mark on the mind of its observer, and masterfully illustrating the timeless power of art.

Presentation

In the tradition of great production designers (Alexandre Trauner, Ken Adam), Dean Tavoularis has discreetly established himself in the history of cinema, leaving his mark on around thirty films, including almost the entire work of Francis F. Coppola.
Trained at Disney (Lady and the Tramp, Mary Poppins), this son of Greek immigrants, settled in California, took drawing and architecture classes, before materializing the plans of Arthur Penn (Bonnie and Clyde, Little Big Man) and Michelangelo Antonioni (Zabriskie Point). Each of his shoots requires long hours of location scouting and documentary research, his secret for defining the opaque atmosphere of The Godfather or the humidity of Apocalypse Now, the misty exteriors of Hammett by Wim Wenders or the coquettish interiors of Carnage, his last film, directed by Roman Polanski in 2011. Since then, in Paris where he lives with the actress Aurore Clément, Dean Tavoularis paints canvases which he exhibits alongside the storyboards of his brother Alex, the very ones which were used studying the settings of his films.
