Graffiti

Il tagging occupa un posto unico nella cultura dei graffiti, come forma più immediata ed essenziale di scrittura urbana.

Ridotto a una firma stilizzata, fa parte di una pratica nata nelle strade di New York alla fine degli anni '60, guidata da una logica di identificazione visiva, territorio e riconoscimento tra pari. Lungi dall'essere un semplice scarabocchio, il tagging costituisce un sistema grafico a sé stante, governato da codici rigorosi: lo stile del lettering, la fluidità della linea, la padronanza del gesto e la capacità di lasciare il proprio segno in spazi inaspettati definiscono lo status e la reputazione del suo autore all'interno della comunità.

Attraverso il ritmo, la ripetizione e l'occupazione dello spazio pubblico, esplora il concetto di presenza e visibilità urbana, esercitando un'influenza duratura su numerose pratiche contemporanee, dalla street art alla tipografia sperimentale. Figure come Taki 183, considerato uno dei pionieri del graffiti newyorkese, o in seguito Jean-Michel Basquiat, che portò questa energia grafica nelle gallerie, illustrano la traiettoria di una pratica che si è spostata dalla strada agli spazi istituzionali.
