About the artwork
Artwork sold in perfect condition
Frédérique Gourdon, born in 1971 in Paris, lives and works in Ile-de-France. Graduated from the “Terre et Feu” art school in 2008, she currently divides her time between her studio work and the plastic arts classes she gives to young people and adults. After having explored at length mixed media: painting, engraving, collage, Frédrique Gourdon made a strong encounter in 2015, with paper and vegetable fibers.
The paper becomes a support, then a material to be shaped. The vegetable fiber is a source of inspiration and allows it to emerge new poetic spaces. The weft is then a new conducting thread explored by the line drawing and the cotton thread. With this thread that she mixes, intertwines, weaves, constructs or deconstructs, Frédérique Gourdon tells us about the passages, the wanderings, the fragile moments of a life ... This wear and tear of time which enriches.
The fiber of the fabric then becomes part of his work; a material to be transformed, to be further deconstructed; the unwoven weaving then offers new perspectives ... countless. The black ink and its infinite shades of gray highlight the voids and offer as many spaces for breathing.
The imprint of time on nature remains at the heart of the artist's concerns. His work is the result of transformations in successive layers, as the tree shapes its rings. This time of the journey is essential to the progression of the escape and to the fixation of the ephemeral.
