Biography
"Get to the essentials. A minimum of lines for a powerful expression, an emotion. Remove, scrape, rub as much of the materials as possible to obtain an effect of lightness, if possible overwhelming. Go to the heart of the emotional event which provokes the act of painting."
Kélyne is a contemporary painter born in 1955 and based in France. Often described as a "painter of the soul," she was born in Vietnam, raised in Laos, and spent her early years in Algeria. Today, she continues to draw inspiration from the men, women, children, and environments of her early years when she paints. Her canvases, which she creates from collages and various materials, bear witness to their lives.
Kélyne worked closely with Opera Gallery in Paris, New York, Miami, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan from 1990 to 2012. She now exhibits her work at Signature African Art Gallery in London and La Galerie Laetitia in St. Germain-en-Laye.
