Presentation

TAROE, whose real name is Nicolas Masterson, was born in Biarritz on April 6, 1981. He discovered the world of graffiti in 1995. Self-taught and passionate, He cut his teeth on the walls of disused factories, vacant lots, and train cars which mark his way from his native Basque country, to New York, Berlin via Madrid, Bangkok, Hanoi, Pondicherry, or even Paris, where he resides from 2005 to 2015. He then developed a passion for design and typography , and develops its own graphic identity in parallel with painting. He multiplies performances and collaborations (live painting, film sets, advertising spots, logos, illustrations…) in painting as well as in graphics. It is natural that in 2006 he turned to another medium, the canvas, by developing his own pictorial style. Most often in large format, inspired by artists such as Richard Estes or Paul Roberts, but also by his many travels, he produces hyper realistic works on the theme of the "Urban Jungle". Present at auctions (Arcurial, Piasa, Cornette de St Cyr…) his paintings are now listed, visible and accessible in numerous exhibitions.
