Presentation

Born in 1955, Joel Ducorroy discovered an artistic vocation quite early.

In 1969, he produced serigraphs inspired by Andy Warhol, who he meets him later on. He continues his studies at the Beaux Arts in Paris.

In 1980, Joël Ducorroy met Serge Gainsbourg with whom he exchanged a few mischievous words like « Et cetera, c'est adéquat ». He records it and stamps it on a mineralogical plate.

An original journey of words begin. According to the painter, there is nothing more real than these words for his painting, a world without a brush but with humor and hints. "Express rather than represent! Reading is like understanding a painting!". The artist doesn't impose his vision on the world in fact he invites the spectator to create his own analysis.

On J-C Lange's suggestion, a friend of Raymond Hains, he takes up the name «artiste plaquetitien».

A conceptual humorist, with an approach referring to Fluxus, pop art or new-found realism, he's a collector of words who plays around with art.

Along the way, he revisits various forms of artistic expression (painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, engraving ...) and takes us towards a world with characters, nature, butterflies in the moon light.
