A short glossary of fine art drawing

Sketch: Often drawn from nature, a very quick drawing that does not focus on details.

Study: (Or sketch) A preliminary drawing that serves as a basis for a painting or sculpture.

Graffiti: Initially, a graffiti was a drawing carved in stone and the engraving was filled in with graphite. Today, the term refers to an instinctive and spontaneous drawing often done in public areas (walls, buildings etc).

Technical drawing: A technical drawing visually communicates principles relating to a technical topic.
