Presentation
Idea of the repetition of the same system (assonance) coupled with its amplification (resonance) “It is rare, during a duo exhibition, that the works presented maintain such organic links that it is sometimes difficult without the recourse of the cartels, to attribute the paternity to one or the other artist ”Cédric Loire / Entre-Deux (2015) This exhibition by Olivier Michel and Pierre-Alexandre Remy at the Galerie Réjane Louin is the second collaboration of these artists who like to test the work of one in relation to that of the other. Here, both play according to a linear score when for one it winds and invades the paper, for the other it rises and unfolds in space. In a movement of amplified echo, the works called upon are part of a system of repetition of assonant lines which resonate on the walls and in the space of the gallery. Whether it is made with a bic pen, or in steel, whether it is lost in meanders of flexible pvc, or whether it finds its way by following the filigree of a twisted glass; the line intimately links the two artists, who like to walk together on this side road. The works are born in everyone's studio, independently and not in concert, but their authors have taken care to choose them precisely so that they can be heard and resonate. One of them, however, was born of intense telephone discussions, building itself over the points played in a hertzian ping-pong. Olivier and Pierre-Alexandre had built the whole of their first exhibition on this principle, and we can hear that they cheerfully rediscovered their rules of composition.
