Graduated un Art and Industrial Design at Santos Santa Cecília University, São Paulo State, in Brazil, and in Interior Architecture at Santista Gallery of Art, Sonia had been directly involved in art by her mother, Nadir Azevedo, a painter from Rio de Janeiro, very active in the 60s.
As a child, she was always going in her mom’s studio, and have been growing up in the middle of brushes and paint cans. A way of life that push her to develop a real cult for Art and to study it seriously. Actually, she is developing a very personal and intuitive work , a series of figurative paintings , using mixed techniques and make some inroads in the abstract minimalism, probably because of the influence from her design training.
