Lois Goodnough, a mainly auto-deduct artist, is inspired by colour and texture, the abstract and whimsy. These inspirations are very apparent in her work; particularly her love of textiles and pattern. Until her retirement, art took a backseat. It was not until then, that she found the time and inclination to pursue her life-long passion for creating art. She participated in local art workshops, took drawing and painting classes, and developed her characteristic style. In 2013, on Vancouver Island, she found a very supportive arts community who further encouraged and inspired her artistic development.
“I am an intuitive painter, and I paint with my heart; with delightful patterns, figures and flowers dancing in my head. But I also paint with a critical eye for colour and a fascination for detail. I find such joy in the patterns revealed by the collision of colour. A joy that I hope transfers to those who view my art."
As an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artist (FCA), Lois was juried into three of their exhibitions in 2018. She received two Honourable Mentions for her submissions to the Vancouver shows, where both pieces sold. Her work was included at the FCA Gallery on Granville Island in Vancouver, a variety of galleries throughout BC, and during the Grand Prix d'Art in the town of Qualicum Beach.
