Paul Uldace

Born in: 1936

Translation in progress

Paul Uldace (artist name) was born in 1936 in Paris. He died in 2013. He spent his youth in Paris, frequented the academy of La Grande Chaumière and met as a teenager Paul Riestelhuber, "Boulos", who became his faithful friend. Evolving in a world of artists, Paul Uldace becomes the small "protected" of a very closed environment. Spectator and "muse" of the intimates of Boulos who transmits to him the love of arts, poetry and reading, he discovers a particular interest for femininity. He draws and paints, collects fine objects, books and letters. Far from people of his age, Paul Uldace has this thirst for maturity, experience and knowledge. Very much affected by the death of Boulos, he leads a bohemian life in a Paris that resembles him ... He multiplies carnal encounters and, in the seventies, he meets Mara Rucki, with whom he corresponds Years. It brings comfort, affection, culture and serenity. In this life of deep exchange and instability, Paul Uldace draws, paints, writes. His talent has remained anonymous, discreet, hidden ... yet we see a precise technique, natural transparencies, a balance of composition "rare", its colors are light and fresh. His charcoal women or "couples" at the Eiffel Tower are a tribute to love. It is essential to know this great artist who left too early, without any recognition.
