Born in 1931 - France
Marie Ducas is a self-taught painter inspired by nature and by Australia. She is enchanted by the spectacle of nature, whilst travelling the world. In her paintings, she only keeps the outlines of shapes to achieve a composition that incorporates her own vision, a compelling intimist poetry which she has composed during the 15 years of her career.
Through techniques that she has observed during her peregrinations, she learnt to use only what is necessary for her art. Acrylic medium was selected, used in a fast intuitive gesture either with brushes or knives, applied with a light coat, or at times transparent enough to see the canvas through the paint or painted on very thickly depending on the artist's personal freedom.
