Christophe Goutal

France Born in: 1964
French artist Christophe Goutal lives and works in Paris. He was born in 1964.
From a young age, he manifested a particular interest for the arts and artists such as Magritte, Duchamp, de Chirico, art brut and the Présence Panchounette collective.

At the age of 15 he joined the Sorbier studio for academic painting in Paris, where he made his first paintings, still lifes, landscapes...

In 1979 he made a decisive encounter: he met Francois Arnal, a major representative of the Abstraction Lyrique movement and of Informal Art, founder of the Atelier A (dedicated to the design) with Arman, César and many other artists and sculptors.
Arnal, remarked in young Goutal a special talent and creativity. He encouraged him to take the artistic path, but the young artist turned went into advertising, after his studies at the Academy Charpentier; he was also attending, in 1986, the course of the Grande Chaumière.

The years passed and Goutal did not give up his artistic career; he painted, made installations, objects, visited Arnal and keps an eye on the artistic movements of the time.

In 2009, supported by the Exit Art Contemporain Gallery in Boulogne, he decided to produce some of the objects he had designed and show his recent paintings. Since then, he has been producing regularly his rich works, including paintings, photographs, objects and installations which stirred the interest of many foreign and French collectors.
