Olivier Marty

Olivier Marty, born in Paris in 1961, is a painter, draughtsman and video artist. He teaches at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Paysage (Versailles), where he is also responsible for artistic teaching.

The artist travels all kinds of places, in France and abroad, to collect the material that he then puts into play in his studio. Each time, it develops a survey, information gathering and meeting process. Physical experience is very important.

The sites explored were urban, industrial, rural... These explorations provoke various plastic propositions: painting constitutes the central pivot, but it is accompanied by drawings and videos, sometimes installations.

Many works concern gardens, natural spaces, routes or walks ("La Roseraie", MAC/VAL, "Lignes de rives", Conseil Général du 94, "L'Atlas des deux rives", Conseil Départemental de la Creuse. . . ).

These residencies, projects and commissions have allowed him to intertwine his approach with that of choreographers (Emmanuelle Huynh, Christine Bastin), musicians (pianist Michel Maurer, composer Arnaud Sallé), poets (Tita Reut, Olivier Blin) and landscape artists.
