Jean-Louis Dubuc

Dubuc likes to make us travel through colorful scenes of life, windows wide open to the sea, to dream and escape ... His elegant women, moving orchestras and circuses transport us to the atmosphere of the 1900s.

Born in 1946 in Bordeaux, Dubuc is very early passionate about drawing. He joined the School of Fine Arts. Then, he gets closer to Marty, one of his professors decorator of the Paris Opera and the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux. The latter teaches him pictorial techniques relating to the decorative art, all elements that Dubuc preciously collects and that he will use for his personal expression.

Admirer of Raoul Dufy, but also of the Cobra group or French earthenware of the eighteenth century, he is a sensitive and unprejudiced person. Naturally reserved, he never stopped questioning himself by tirelessly feeding his painting visits to museums and galleries. His eye sharpened by the painting of the old masters, captures all that can be used to translate his vision: a world of peace, color and pleasure.

It can be said of him that after learning painting, he became a painter of instinct. Indeed, behind each painting lies thousands of drawings and thousands of times and yet his painting remains frank, without detours. The spectator is invited without knowing it, in a course of sophistications completely mastered, an infinite adventure that the artist has explored and deployed at the cost of endless efforts to offer it to his audience as an evidence, a simple thing.
