Biography
Michelle Winckler is a French artist born in 1954. She studied at the CERFAV (European Center for glassmakers art) and learned at Paul Fleury’s workshop in Montreuil, at the Beaux-Arts workshop in Paris with Claude Abeille, and at Assartx in Celle Saint-Cloud with the sculptors JG Deyme and Robert Fachard. Michelle Winckler takes her inspiration from natural materials by using materials marked by time: rusty metal, glass, wood etc. She constantly looks for new artistic experimentations. The artwork of Michelle Winckler is not about conveying a clear message, but simply the history of sensations transcribed trough the materials. Michelle Winckler has had personal exhibitions at the Cultural Center of Pecq in France in 2016, at the Christiane Peugeot place in 2015, at the Maison Ducauville in 2015, at the Salon Art & Matière of Maisse in 2014, at MIAC Puls'art in 2014, at the 3F Gallery in Paris in 2013, or even at the Arts Forum in Mortagne-au-Perche in 2011. She won the sculpture prize at the Biennale of Conches in 2016, the Colmont Prize awarded by the Beaux-Arts Academy of the French Institute in 2012, the Fonderie Rossini Prize in 2010, or even the Bréauté Prize, awarded by the Beaux-Arts Academy of the French Institute in 2008.
