Fred Ian

Born in: 1973

France

Biography
Fred Ian is the end result of two distinct yet complimentary french artists- Yann the photographer, and Fred who paints portraits based on these photos. Fred Ian obtained a BT (Technician's Degree) in architectural structures at the ESAAT in Roubaix before acquiring an HND in design (Advanced Technician Degree) at the ESSA Duperré. He then specialized in Stage Costumes at ESMOD, a Parisian fashion school. Using this painting technique which is more like the classic form, Fred Ian represents fictitious characters and offers them some realism, allowing them to put down roots through eternal myths. He strives to bring continuity after painters like Alex Ross and Joe Jusko, Fred Ian yearns to capture the nobility and beauty of the wonderful and fantastic characters. Wonderful in reality is like a tell-tale for the spectator who immerses himself in this super-heroic imaginary world, a counter-culture which fascinated France for more than a generation, not only for men but women during late 60's with the Fantask magazine and the covers of Jean Frisano, then of course the most popular monthly magazine, namely Strange.
