Chaix

The Chaixienne work is exclusively made up of fruit labels (and, to a lesser extent, vegetables) that the artist retreats one by one from the stalls of his ZOC (Operational Zone of Pickling). Along the way, this pilgrim fond of Oulipian rituals brought to light the foundations of a discipline based on the cumulative virtues of agri-food marketing, serial theft and the quest for harmony in this world. This noble art has flourished over time, fueled by supermarket tourism and the plunder perpetrated at the stalls of greengrocers. Time-consuming and laborious, its practice requires solid manual skills, the patience of a chaser and nerves of steel. The builder credo, the modus operandi and the seditious implications of this demanding discipline are the subject of a fictionalized manifesto entitled Chaix et les labels.
