Presentation

Born in 1958, Monique Tello is a French artist. She lives and works in Poitiers.

Monique Tello joined Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Poitiers and Angouleme before moving to Poitiers to work as a teacher at the Beaux-Arts. During her training, she was influenced by the success of the Support/Surface movement and drew inspiration from Action Painting. After her first exhibition in Tarbes, she met Jean-Pierre Pincemin who encouraged her to continue painting and introduced her to the world of engraving. Monique Tello gradually let go off her academic teaching while she painted, drew or engraved and her strokes became more thought out.

The artist studied the representation of movement and energy through the theme of Earth and Sky. While addressing this issue in an abstract and figurative manner, Monique creates a heavenly atmosphere in her work.

Monique Tello did her first solo exhibition in 1990 at the Galerie Confort Moderne in Poitiers. Four years later, she joined the artist residency in Czech Republic. Her work is exhibited in several museums (Musée de Vendôme, Musée Sainte Croix...), cultural institutions and galleries (Galerie Univer/Colette Colla...). She has also participated in various contemporary art fairs.
