Yann Sérandour

The job of a historian might be to fill in gaps, to make sense of a chain of events from unearthed documentary sources and to construct, like a novelist, a plot to tell us a story that actually took place. Yann Sérandour's work could be similar to that of this historian. Using artefacts borrowed from predecessors, accidents and hazards likely to occur, he conducts investigations, identifies gaps, sows trouble and extends stories. Yann Sérandour's work has often referred to the conceptual art of the 1960s and 1970s, a period that particularly affected him because it was widely distributed in the form of publications and printed matter - his favorite subject. In his recent work, he freely shifts his attention to other fields and more distant eras, creating a reflective gap with our contemporaneity. Born in 1974 in Vannes, he lives and works in Rennes.
