Berenice lays down some sculptures in the gallery and I know that the works are there, an obvious, a strong presence, a whole world of beauty, poetry, calmness, sweetness.

The warmth, the familiarity of the driftwood of the Atlantic or the Mediterranean, the evocation of the past, of the distant and it is an invitation to introspection, meditation, contemplation.

Specializing in medieval murals during studies of art history (publication of the book "See and believe, medieval murals in Touraine", 2002), the sacred images nourished my taste for sobriety, purity and sweetness of the lines.

The strength and emotion emanating from this encounter with these works have been indicative of a need to try to pass them on to me. It is with the earth, that I have been fashioning for almost an early age, that I have found my mode of expression.

My sculptures are highlighted by a process of smoking and patinas. My current work has indeed moved away from the ceramic techniques where enamel predominates, to return to the truth of the bare earth.

The driftwood and terracotta are a balance between simplicity, elegance and restraint. This raw wood, shaped by time and nature, recovered during a stroll on a beach, along a river, inspires alone a lot of emotions, dreams, travels. They will resonate and be narrated by the finely modelled characters in a harmonious contrast.
