François Duel

"I have always been self-taught and prolific. I have never stopped experimenting with materials. From design, to drawing, painting, sculpture, I have tried all techniques, tried all forms of expression. Over the years. 80, I invented furniture that mixed industrial and noble materials IPN and wood, frosted glass… I exhibited in several galleries in Paris, at the Paul Ricard Foundation, at the Arcelor gallery in La Défense … Then I went to the other side of creation by becoming a project manager for contemporary art in a local authority. I have been reworking in creation since 2016. I have adopted lighter, simple and essential materials. C 'is the extension of a long reflection. One can think about art, imagine constructions, techniques without experiencing the material ... A sort of theory of art outside the field of experience. By reworking, I have lightened, erased, simplified.

I like the unique line, the academic drawing which turns into abstraction, transcends itself… The calligrapher's gesture. Strength and movement, I believe that could qualify my practice. It is in a way a contrast, two ends which clash…. I am Duel! "
