Born in: 1977

Line C. is a French artist born in 1977 who currently lives and works in Rennes. She graduated from the National School of Fine Arts of the city of Rennes in 2000.

Her first works where paintings in a canvas focused on the subject of masks and faces, she uses Pollock's dripping technique in her paintings, using oil paints and different pigments to show us these androgynous and mixed faces, but also photographic researches on the non masked showing the uncontrollable expressions of bungee jumpers which she captures flying and then puts on a canvas in a dark room.

She then enriched her artistic production by using new material. In 2015 she did a training in the technique of European lacquer with art teacher Isabelle Emmerique in Paris. A French tradition over 300 years old, whose gestures come from Chinese and Japanese techniques, European lacquer then became a Western decorative practice. Its implementation is accompanied by rigorous work of high quality, the colors are made from varnish with turpentine full of powdered pigments, they are then used as the background color, reliefs or overlay of shades.

Man always plays a main role in her creations since it is her favorite subject, she places it into new imaginary pictorial landscapes. Through the hairdo, or all kinds of decorative forms in the head, Line C uses a purely graphic language while creating semi abstract and figurative works, richly ornamented.

The decorations (gold or copper leaves, bronze powder, egg shell inlays ...) are placed on the background color with grafts of gold and bronze powder which give a refined touch to the disrray of colors. The shiny or matte finish is obtained by polishing by hand. Two to three months are needed to finish a work that is done by hand until its utmost detail.

Her first works have been exhibited at the International Biennial Dak'art 98 then at the Femin-Art in Germany and Belgium and she designed the poster for the 26th edition of Transmusicales in 2004 which was a great success.
