Demoiselle MM

Born in the South of France, Mariane Mazel aka Demoiselle MM made her debut at the Beaux Arts in Marseille. But, finding the teaching too "conceptual" for her taste, she left school after two years and continued to paint as an autodidact.

To feed her inspiration, she travels the world aboard a motorhome. In each country she crosses, she draws on colors and costumes to refine her style. For her first paintings, she also finds her inspiration in Paul Gaugin, Francis Picabia, Max Ernst.

Demoiselle MM finally settled down in Paris 15 years ago. Gradually, to break the figurative of her painting, she launched herself into the abstract, which allowed her to refine her technique in the mixing of colors and in the work of different textures. Always curious, she also does some collages. But he also had to build his own artistic personality from acquired techniques.

Ask her what are her main sources of inspiration and she will answer you without hesitation: fashion, traditional costumes, art nouveau. And also painters like Gustave Klimt, Mucha and Frida Kahlo .. Sources of inspiration to which she adds her own signature: meticulous work of the line, a frank choice of colors and the addition of collages. This is how the "Demoiselles" of Demoiselle MM.
