Presentation

Ferluc is a French artist. His work on copper focuses on the observation of living things in the mineral. An experimental study through chemical processes aims to return the metal to its natural state. The oxidation of copper allows it to explore expanding matter. Abstract landscapes have been born from this alchemical conversation since his first encounter with ore in the copper mines in Chile in 2015.

My work on copper was first translated into Design with the creation of a furniture installation, Comete 0.1 in 2013, which made me want to go further for the first time.

This trip to Chile to discover the mines was a real surprise for me. I didn't expect to encounter color this way. Since my childhood, I have been fascinated by the pigments that I worked on in my workshop. I was nevertheless frustrated to have to mix them to register them on my paintings. I felt like I was turning off the light and for that reason I never thought I could be a painter. The discovery of the natural pigmentation of copper ore was a chemical revelation for me. As if I had finally found the link between object, material and light. Since then, I have never stopped experimenting with the extraction, by oxidation, of this fascinating pigment on 99.9% pure copper plates.

I like to imagine painting views of the sky. When I started working with large formats, I had to imagine a different way of painting because my works had to remain horizontal so that the oxidation of the metal could be created over time. I had trouble seeing what I was painting. Today, I paint these formats suspended by a harness from a pulley and observe my continents like an astronaut. This new perspective gave me the impression of painting a new Earth with its seas and oceans.

I try to have a telluric approach to human interactions on our planet.

The large-format work Fracas evokes the melting ice. Horizon , she reflects, the calming aspect of these forces at rest.

I thought of a series of 12 formats called Architecture of a Wave as a prelude to these large formats.

This is precisely the subject of the exhibition: Waves, garden of the sky .
