After a scientific training and at the end of a professional career where Joelle RHODE taught mathematics and then accompanied teenagers and adults in their personal development, she felt the urge to give free rein to her creativity and express her feelings other than by words.
In search of a way of expressing herself to develop a taste for creation and to open up new fields, she has rediscovered her old taste of painting.
Joelle RHODE explores the richness, the subtlety, the delicacy of the oil glaze. The colours mix directly on the support and the layering of successive transparent layers gives depth and lightness to the works. By pushing back, removing, scratching, wiping the paint, the shapes emerge. The artist thus creates paintings made of light and chiaroscuro evoking horizons, shores, landscapes of sky and water...
Inspired by the relief of a desert, the colors of a tree, a bark, the fractals of a rock, the artist offers us an evanescent and unreal universe and seems to invite us to cross the mirror to join a mysterious and magical dimension in the colors of his emotions.
