Edgard Pillet is a French painter, born in 1912 in Saint-Chistoly-Médoc and died in 1996. 1948 onward, his artistic activity expanded, this is when he created the magazine "Art d'aujourd'hui" with André Bloc and became its general secretary. In 1950, he founded the Art abstrait workshop and in 1961 the Espace group. During mid 50's, he moved to USA and taught at the Louisville University, then at the Arts Institute in Chicago. He exhibited in major fairs and galleries regularly, in Paris, Europe and USA.

He's a sculptor and a painter, Pillet established several links with architecture by creating many reliefs, mural paintings and mosaics and received several official and private orders. He is considered to be one of the leaders of geometric abstraction and inventor of "Creuset".
