Born in 1964 - Germany
Painter, designer and writer, Michael Lentz experiments with his passion, but with the same quest in mind: aesthetic, scientific and technique. Born in 1964 in Germany, he studied in Paris and Vienna.
His nudes are a lot like Egon Schiele, not only due to their extreme sensitivity but also impressive finesse. His work revolves around three pillars: the feminine nude, the ideal landscape and abstraction "monolithic", under the same technique which sways between engraving, drawing and typography. Monotype or steel engraving put down roots in Italy, during the 17th Century (founded by Giovanni Benedetto). Michael Lentz uses typographical ink on non porous materials (like the glass he lays on the paper). Through this, his drawings are able to explore a vast variety of black color. The artist sketches his major nudes, freehand.
