Presentation

Monica Mariniello is an Italian artist. She spent her childhood in Tuscany, and imbibed the smells, light and noise. She studied drawing at the Florence academy and then moved to Paris. From 1980 until 1986, she took sculpture lessons at the Fine Arts school of Paris.

Late 80's, she used recovered metal for her sculptures. She increased her range of materials, this included terra cotta. 2000 onward, she used photos in her creations. This new way of working made her work easily recognizable.

Monica Mariniello's sculptures are harmonious. Despite the fact that she alternates materials and colors, her forms go hand in hand and are put together wonderfully. Coldness of iron and warmth of terra cotta complete one another. The artist's style is modern, but there are several antique references, which allow to question the present.

She won the Renoir prize in 1995, Mariniello created her enormous sculptures for various countries in Europe. She is mainly known for the public order she received from Guyancourt in Yvelines in 2001.
