Mark Vassallo, of British nationality, has lived in Japan since 1992. A fashion photographer, he regularly escapes the frenzy of parades and filming to work patiently in his studio in Shimoda.
His learning of Zen Buddhism in the mountains of Yamanashi 25 years ago naturally inclines him not only to marvel at the beauties of nature, but also to reveal them. His photographs of flowers, in close-up and in large formats, capture the precise moment when their beauty, their fragility, their majesty leave us speechless.
