TADEUSZ DOMINIK (b. 1928 – d. 2014)
is considered to be one of the most creative followers of Polish colourism who modernized and extended its formula. Since 1965, the artist painted a dynamic, expressive, nearly abstract compositions as well as numerous transformations of colorful gardens and fields.
Dominik studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, obtaining his diploma from the studio of Professor Jan Cybis in 1952. From 1951 to 1990 he taught at his alma mater, working his way up from the position of teaching assistant to full professor. In addition to painting, the artist produces prints, ceramics and decorative fabrics. He represented Poland at the Venice Art Biennale (1956) as well as in several dozen other important and highly prestigious exhibitions in Europe, the Americas and Asia. Notably in 1961 he participaten in an important exhibition ’15 Polish Painters” at MoMA in New York. Tadeusz Dominik was also the first winner of the prestigious Jan Cybis Prize.
