Konrad Srzednicki (1894- 1993)


He was born in 1894, Wysokie Mazowieckie, died in 1993, Krakow.
Painter and graphic artist. He studied at the private School of Painting and Drawing at Krzyżanowski in Warsaw (1921–1924) and at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1924–1930). He obtained a university diploma in 1936. From 1939 he was a professor of graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (rector 1951–1952). He was a member of "Rite" (from 1931) and the Group of 9 Graphic Artists (1952–1960), an honorary member of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence (from 1965).


He practiced painting and workshop graphics (lithography - views of Krakow, metal techniques, less often wood engraving). He created figural oil compositions, landscapes and still lifes. His paintings are characterized by a poetic interpretation of nature. The artist himself claimed that he was inspired by "nature, the village, the port, legends, village stories."


He won an award at the International Exhibition 'Art and Technology', Paris 1937. Award at the World Graphic Exhibition, London 1962. Award at the First International Graphic Biennale, Krakow 1966. Gold medal at the 3rd International Salon of Fine Arts, Victoria 1968 (Brazil). Award at the First International Graphic Biennale, Florence 1968.
