Born in 1936 - Spain
Léon Díaz-Ronda is a protean Spanish artist, born in 1936, during the Spanish civil war. A self-taught artist, his vocation for painting came along rather late: "When I was in Madrid, I wanted to write. But once in France, the words got mixed up, I had such a hard time writing that I began painting. My friends in Madrid helped me get used to this". Since then, the artist has been drawing, painting, engraving and doing photography....He moved to France in 1967, he lives in Narbonne today.
As the years went by, Léon Díaz-Ronda developed a unique pictorial style. Especially his use of blurriness made his work famous. "My work is part of a poetic universe: mundane or dreamy, abstract or figurative, blurry or clear...but my conscience is my own witness and that's exactly what I observe", says the artist.
