Bahram Hajou

The couple's private space is the bedroom, signified by the windows, the bed, the pedestal table. Very quickly, the painter no longer needs it, he draws the curtain. The sheet of the bed seems to serve him as a pictorial surface.

This painting is part of the tradition of German expressionism. But the softness of the touch is unique to it, recalling the sensuality of the Orient.

There is no fear in these elongated faces, just a question: who are you? Are you friend or foe? It is perhaps an ideal universe that the one that the artist describes to us here. A sort of lost paradise where one does not know duplicity, nor cynicism, nor all those things which spoil your life and which you carry within you, in spite of yourself. It's a bit of a utopian vision of a better world, a view of the mind ...

Through seemingly light paintings, Bahram Hajou invites us to more humanity. The disarming looks of his characters… disarm, and immerse you in a painting without aggressiveness, whose primary speech is a message of peace and brotherhood.

There is something unalterable in his pictures - as if the image of mankind seems to be a verdict. However, apart from this urgency liberty has also its effect being present as space and color. The image of mankind changes to a memorial of its vulnerability.

Luminosity and gloom, water, soil, gale are already present before the individuals. It appears as if they grow out of a primordial chaos, as if they were released from the force of the elements. BAHRAM is the creator of a dramatic world of painting.
