Biography
Alison Wilding is a British artist born in 1948, she currently lives and works in London. She studied at the Nottingham College of Art, at the Ravensbourne College of Art and Design in Bromley and then at the Royal College of Art in London. She specialized in sculpture and developed great interest for philosophical affairs concerning the nature of art, with emphasis on light, territories and borders. She was nominated for the Turner prize in 1988 and 1992 and received several prestigious awards such as the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award in 2008, The Bryan Robertston Award in 2012 and was finally elected by the Royal Academy in 1999. Her work is part of several important international collections such as those at the Tate Britain, The Courtauld Institute of Art, The Museum of Fine Art of Calais in France, the Arts Council England, The British Council, The Art Gallery of New South Wales in Australia, the Hendry Moore Institute and the National Gallery of Scotland in Edinbugh.
