Les natures vives de Thierry Pertuisot: The floral motif, for a painter in search of the great abstract figure of nature, of its secret in the modelless curvature of reality, is only a close point of view on fractal disseminations which testify to the energy of forms as much as of the forms of energy. A single flower is also a moment in the expansion of the universe. For this Big-Bang of the image, Thierry Pertuisot used the pretext of visits to the Jardins de Métis in Gaspésie: from one work to another, these efflorescences compose a kaleidoscopic sequence in which we find in its expressive variety all the he art of the painter of monumental series setting the stage for the quadruple root dear to Empedocles. But the fragility of the subject in no way prevents this balance of power: cold and hot, wet and dry are embodied here by oil color and gold on canvas. The interplay of elementary qualities produces this energy in turn impetuous or circumscribed. With his back turned to the still lifes of a velvet Breughel, Pertuisot works his floral compositions from photographs, using pixelation as an aesthetic vector: the unit measuring the definition of a digital image, this optical element that constitutes his grid, the artist extrapolates it into 5x5 cm sections that he moves in a combinatorial manner, occasionally using mathematical formulas such as the famous Fibonacci sequence declined from the Golden Ratio. Above all a painter, Thierry Pertuisot belongs to a new generation of artists who engage with living nature in a challenge without a conceptual escape outside the canvas. Nothing is yet extinguished for the eye. The landscape motif in itself, the frequency of the gaze infinitely variable between the photonic chaos of the first impression and the sensitive fixation of light in its relation to human time, basically covers the entire optical field - from the sight which is lost to the immediate detail. what are these flowers or their reflection. - Hubert Haddad
