Reflection on impermanence

Paris From November 10, 2013 to December 8, 2013

Presentation
“Everything flows and nothing abides, everything gives way and nothing stays fixed.” Heraklit Dan Carabas is in search of the tiny space that opens between thoughts and the intimacy of these moments supposedly hidden from view.

He photographs the protagonists of his shots at home, and in doing so creates snapshots nourished by intimacy, similar to those fleeting thoughts already evaporated at the very moment they arise. For Dan Carabas, true beauty lies in the naturalness of movement and the magic of the fleeting moment. He is in search of a beauty beyond exterior contemplation, born from the harmonious interaction of movement, thought and space. Collected over space and time, his photos are reflections of an evanescence of the moment; and it is precisely in this evanescence that their true beauty resides. In a calm voice, akin to murmur, his pictures draw the viewer into their meditative wake. In the soft light of day, they radiate peace, harmony and naturalness, the symbiosis of which offers a glimpse of the moments of life of its protagonists, for the most part intimate and hidden from view. However, the gaze witnessed by the viewer is not one of those shots stolen through the keyhole. The camera manages to be both present and invisible, so that the viewer interacts much more with the situation. He is invited to seize the moment and dissolve it, looking at it, from the flow of evanescence, for a while.
