Mwimbi Fine Art is proud to announce its first participation at Art Central Hong Kong from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 May 2022. The gallery will be exhibiting under the Gwo Wai section and curated by Lee Garakara. Mwimbi Fine Art will present a new body of works by South African born Lee du Ploy and David Makala from Lusaka Zambia. The exhibition will feature Makala’s large mono prints and mixed media portraits by du Ploy. Makala’s prints play a particular and important role in creating a visual metaphor beyond time and space. Each mono print by Makala is constructed in a form of layering which speak to the multiple identities constructed over a period of time.
Known for his thought provoking faces, Hong Kong based artist Lee du Ploy reflects on his background in research, mental health and psychological state. Through his extensive travel, du Ploy’s approach creates a unique and stylized approach in recreating memories from his encounters with various individuals.
