Inga Knaak

Germany  • 1976

Presentation

Inga has been making music for a very long time, plays an instrument and likes to sing a lot. With the last note, a piece of music ends and a memory of the sound remains. After her baccalaureate, she studied architecture and, during her studies, the desire to be more free in her expression, to be able to improvise like in music and to convey emotions was already felt. She discovered abstract acrylic painting, took courses, perfected herself and discovered that she greatly admired the German painter Gerhard Richter. She says of herself: "Creativity, imagination, sensitivity and determination make me paint pictures that would not have existed".

Sometimes her paintings are geometric, sometimes she incorporates playful elements, but her favorite tool has long been the scraper. A very popular series is the "Upcycling Series" which the artist publishes at irregular intervals. Canvases that have already been used for acrylic painting and to which Inga gives a second life.
