AKAA (Also Known As Africa) 2022
The AKAA art fair (Also Known As Africa) is taking place in Paris this year from October 21-23. Founded in 2016, it aims to increase international visibility and interest for the contemporary African art scene and its diasporas. This year, 38 foreign and French galleries will meet at the Carreau du Temple in the heart of Paris. This intimate set-up, which is characteristic of AKAA, guarantees a dynamic and engaging experience. Among the exhibited artists are many available on Artsper: Thandiwe Muriu, Elham Etemadi, Saïdou Dicko, Derrick Ofosu Boateng, and many others, for example, represented by renowned galleries such as Bonne Espérance and 193 Gallery.
As the market demand for African contemporary art increases, so does the visibility of its artists. Fairs such as AKAA and its British competitor 1-54 are making it easier for international collectors to discover the most promising emerging talents the scene has to offer.
Are you passionate about all things to do with contemporary African art? Or simply curious about this promising market? Whatever your interest or your level of expertise, the AKAA fair is a must-see event. And if you can't make it in person, take advantage of our selection to experience it no matter where you are! Painting, photography, sculpture... Artsper has picked out the most beautiful artworks from participating artists and galleries so that you don't miss anything of the event.
