  • About the artwork

    Artwork sold in perfect condition

As a professional photographer, Marcel Antelo took many shots in the selection of children's models for clothing advertising. From these works - and their perception of the behavior and emotions of the protagonists - was born the essay "Niños en Casting", a series presented in diptych format and in color. Children's participation in these forms of selection, so popular today, is often accompanied by strong pressure from parents, or other close friends, who tend to project their own fantasies or frustrations onto them. . In any case, the pursuit of economic profit or rapid notoriety can condition the life of a child which must be supported by healthier aspects, both recreational and educational. In the diptychs that make up Antelo's series, they dialogue, for example, the portrait of a boy who participated in a casting and was not selected with a frontal shot of one of the plants that the author cultivates in pot. This interaction between the images is intense and open. They lead the viewer to use his imagination to determine the link between the natural or the tension conveyed by children's gestures and a stripped and modest plant world with slightly strident colors. He exhibits his work "children in casting" at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Salta, in a solo exhibition from May to August 2013.
