We are our environment

Our environment builds us as people, it transforms us. This project is a reflection on the importance of place for our identity.

Portraits without faces, faces presented like landscapes. My face disappears, leaving the landscape as the protagonist.

"I created a simple object: a wooden box with a mirror on one side. I have my model pose and capture the landscape in front of her instead of her face. Through this process, I reflect on our environment and the how it affects our personality. Likewise, in the age of the selfie, I found it interesting to erase the faces of my models and give more importance to the environment.

Aline Part, On est notre environnement (Simon Galice)

Aline Part

France  • 1984

As a multidisciplinary artist, art is one with myself. There is not a day when I am not creating. I always have my camera on my shoulder, a notebook and drawing material in my bag. I spend the day with my hands in the dough. I don't have a favourite theme or technique. My work evolves according to the questions I ask myself and the experiences I have. I work on intimate themes, in relation to my own experience, but I also create works inspired by current events. My work is also militant. My aim is not to create contemplative works, but to convey messages through visual pieces. Although my work is abundant and changing, it is united by a particular aesthetic: I often play with and combine various antagonistic elements.  My work is often described as poetic. It is minimalist and refined.

I work in many disciplines. None is more important to me than another. So I do photography, performance, video, street art, ceramics, drawing, painting, textile art and so on. I like to work outside my studio, creating pieces that also live outside the exhibition space. I want art not to be elitist, but to be understood by the majority of people.

Can I negotiate the price of an artwork?

For some artworks, you can negotiate the price. If the price of the work is negotiable, you have a “Make an offer” button under the “Buy this work” one.

To submit your offer, you must make a payment of the desired amount. Your offer will then be forwarded to the gallery, which reserves the right to accept or reject it. If your offer is accepted, it means that your order is confirmed by the gallery and they will prepare the artwork for shipment. If your offer is rejected, you will be refunded the total amount paid automatically. The gallery can also propose a counter-offer for the acquisition of the artwork.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us: [email protected].

However, please note that once your order reaches its destination, it may be subject to VAT or other customs fees. These charges are beyond our control and you will be responsible for paying them (this is indicated at the ‘checkout’ first step).

In the case that the right of withdrawal is exercised in the aforementioned time frame, the price of the artwork(s) purchased and the shipping costs will be reimbursed by us as soon as the gallery has received the artwork and notified us.
