  • About the artwork

    Artwork sold in perfect condition

Eugène Druet is the precursor of fine art photography. Through his sensitivity and his unique style, he knows how to capture the beauty of a work of art, the flat surface of a painting by Félix Vallotton or the volume of a sculpture by Rodin. But if the work of art by Eugène Druet is respected, it becomes magnified under his lens and its "Druet Process", long, precious and unique, with twenty-four hours of exposure, gives by its subtle black and white a velvety particular to the cliché.

Painting by Félix Vallotton (Switzerland 1865-1925 France), his friend, which he exhibited in his gallery at 108, rue du faubourg Saint Honoré in Paris. Large period silver photographic print on very thick laid fine art paper 54 cm x 43 cm Druet process. Signature lower right in his Druet process and dry stamp of the photographer attesting to the authenticity on the plate at the bottom right "E. Druet 108 faubourg St Honoré Paris".

He made a specialty of photographing the art of his friends, artist painters or sculptors. For each photo the technical process required several hours, beforehand he made different photographic studies taken from different angles in order to best capture the drama and deepness of his subject.
