In wild nature as well as in sites that seem only urban, David Tatin's photographs question our relationship to life, to the land, and to the traces left by man.

The artist likes to survey the margins and friction zones, walk, and immerse himself in the spaces he travels: "Being outside for a long time, hiking for days in autonomy, is first of all walking, eating, sleeping. And once again, to advance in the landscapes, to see them appear, to dive in. Inhabit them temporarily, night after night, stage after stage.

Then, the physique fades and we abandon ourselves to a permanent back and forth between the exterior and oneself, between the immense and the detail, between two essentials.

Being in the great outdoors, if you listen to the expression as much as you read it, is to celebrate this marriage between the celestial and the terrestrial where the material and the intangible come together. At a crucial moment in our civilization, it is to reconnect with our origins, it is to create a new cosmology, freed from the opposition between the savage and the civilized. "

David Tatin

France Born in: 1975

David Tatin was born in 1975 in Arles. In the wilderness as well as in sites that seem only urban, his photographs question our relationship with the living, the territory, and the traces left by Man. The artist likes to wander the margins and areas of friction, to walk, and to immerse himself in the spaces he travels through. His personal series are regularly published and exhibited, particularly since 2013, when he decided to devote himself entirely to photography. Using both ancient and digital processes, he also carries out commissioned work for regional nature parks and supervises courses for the Orbisterre association. Trained in various structures, including the certifying course at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, David Tatin also holds a Master's degree in biology.

David Tatin has, to date, exhibited his various series at numerous festivals including Montier-en-Der in 2016 and 2018, Les Voies Off de Arles in 2016 and 2019, at FotofeverParis 2019, and at the L'Atelier du Midi gallery in 2017 and 2018, and at the L'ANGLE gallery in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

He is also the author of several books presenting his work, such as "De Lure au Ventoux", "L'animal-Montagne", "Mes Pierres de Passage", "Cosmos"...
