Bronze Sculpture for Sale
As a self-taught artist, I've learned the intricacies of painting through closely observing nature, through trial and error, and by not following a set of rules. My subject matter is mostly of nature and textures. I love textures and patterns, elements that have been shaped by nature or the human hand. Painting is a difficult art; having my work hold a viewer's attention even briefly makes it all worth the effort.
Joseph Genova, a native of Italy, moved to New York at the age of nine. He studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, He is mostly self-taught as an artist. He draws inspiration from such masters as Caravaggio and his use of chiaroscuro, the strong contrast between light and dark to create depth and drama in a work of art.
Mr. Geneva's art has been featured in one-man shows at The Hammond Museum in North Salem, New York, the Westchester Italian Cultural Center in Tuckahoe, New York, and the Morris Museum in Morristown, New Jersey.
His paintings are also displayed in various galleries throughout the United States and in many private collections in North America and Europe.
